How to publish your wedding page and protect it with a password
Where the Publish button is, how the guest URL works, how to turn on password protection, and what to check when publishing fails.
You publish the page from the panel: go to Settings, open the Publication & Access tab and click Publish in the Publication Status section. From that moment the page is visible at your address. Below are the details: how the guest URL works, how to turn on the password, and what to do when publishing fails.
How to publish the page
- Go to Settings and open the Publication & Access tab.
- In the Publication Status section, check the current state: Draft (only you can see the page) or Published.
- Click Publish.
If some of the example content we prepared for you is still on the page, the first publish shows a dialog titled Your page still has example content. It is only a warning - you can go back to editing or publish anyway. After a successful publish you will see a Your page is live! dialog with Copy link, WhatsApp, Email and Download QR code buttons, so you can share the address right away.
Once published, the Publish button becomes Unpublish. Unpublishing takes the page offline immediately - guests can no longer see it, but no data is lost and you can publish again at any time.
What the guest URL looks like
The address has the form https://www.stronaweselna.com/en/w/your-address. You set the last part in the same tab, under Website URL. The rules:
- only lowercase letters, digits and single hyphens between them (e.g. anna-and-tom),
- uppercase letters are converted to lowercase automatically,
- some addresses are reserved by the system and cannot be used.
Availability is checked live as you type: first Checking availability..., then This slug is available! or This address is already taken - in that case free suggestions appear below the field (Try:), and the Update Slug button stays disabled until you enter a free address.
Important: if you change the address after sending out invitations, the old link and any printed QR codes stop working. Settle on the address before anything goes to print - QR codes for invitations are covered in Invitations and QR codes.
How to protect the page with a password
The Publication & Access tab has a Password Protection section:
- Turn the protection switch on.
- Set the Access password (up to 50 characters) - type your own or click Generate password.
- Click Copy password and share it with guests, for example in the invitation.
There is one password shared by the whole page - there are no separate passwords for individual guests.
What a guest sees on a password-protected page
Before entering, a guest sees a Password Protected screen with your names and a password field; they get in with the Enter button. Worth knowing:
- The browser remembers access for the current session - after closing the browser and coming back, the guest enters the password again.
- After too many failed attempts the message Too many attempts. Please wait and try again. appears - protection against password guessing.
- Changing the password immediately invalidates all earlier access - every guest will type the new password on their next visit.
Publishing fails - what to check
Publishing requires a paid package or an active trial. The most common messages:
- Standard package required - the page has no paid access yet. The same tab then shows a Buy full access (Standard package) button.
- Trial expired. Get Premium to publish your page. - the 14-day trial has ended. After purchasing a package, publishing works right away and all your content is preserved.
Purchase and invoice details are covered in the payment and invoice article.
Publishing and RSVP
The RSVP form only works on a published page - on a draft, guests cannot submit a response even if RSVP is open. How to configure confirmations is covered in Configuring RSVP.
